IT at the University of Bristol The masters degree at Bristol has been designed and approved in close collaboration with the IT industry. The aim of this intensive course is to produce quality computer professionals who have an overall understanding of computer science, advanced knowledge of both C and JAVA and proficiency in the principles of software engineering. IT at the University of Sheffield My degree at Sheffield involved a three year parallel course in biological computation. This involved principles of data interpretation, data manipulation and techniques in both written and graphical presentation. I was also given the responsibility of using statistical software to process all field data during a two week visit to a research station in Portugal. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE · Jan. 1998 - Sept. 1998: Wyeth Laboratories UK Ltd, New Lane, Havant, Hampshire. Microbiological Analyst: responsible for method development, antibiotic assays, reservative efficacy, environmental monitoring, computational analysis and the production of analytical reports. I was also responsible for attending monthly departmental meetings and then communicating this information by formally briefing the ten staff in my laboratory. · April 1990 - July 1992: Balfour Beatty Power, Channel Tunnel Contractors, Dover, Kent. Junior Planning Engineer: responsible for the production of detailed instructions for the co-ordination of electrical installation. The job required use of dedicated planning software, construction drawings and the ability to work as part of a dynamic engineering team.
